How development is sequenced in SPIRALPE

Sticky Knowledge

Our team of education professionals have created a sequence of lessons that weave together the knowledge the children are gaining to help the children develop, embed and understand their own physical education journey

There is a lesson sequence which sees all the classes in the school working on the same sporting thread that week, but to their own year group specific skill challenges and Can I questions.

It considers the themes, the sporting or physical activity thread and the language being applied. It also gives detailed teaching points and even suggests role models as conversation starters.

This follows a pilot of the lesson  sequence with our good friends and long standing SPIRALPE advocate St Josephs Catholic Primary School in Wetherby and is in line with OFSTED requirements for delivery of the physical education national curriculum.

We provide this detailed knowledge organiser to schools that are part of the community, along with the lesson delivery sequenced and a  the skills progression map.

This level of long term planning and supporting documentation shows your whole school community that you take physical education seriously and care about the way each child in your school develops a love of being physically active.

We also provide schools with a partner page to add to their own website which explains this approach to physical education.
