How to access and use the lesson plans.

Thanks for being part of the growing community of teachers delivering outstanding PE through the lesson plans and planning within the SPIRALPE platform.

We’ve built this system with you in mind. We’ve saved you lots of planning time (time you probably don’t have) by providing you with 39 detailed lesson plans for each year group. They all fit together into an overarching framework and they’ll help you to teach the full range of physical literacy skills; all delivered in a spiral curriculum that increases the challenge levels for the pupils as they move up through school and which meets all areas of the national PE curriculum (with the exception of swimming).

We’ve made it really easy to get to your lessons – simply login, click on the icon for the year group you are teaching and then pick which week of the academic year you are in; this will bring up your lesson plan for that week.

1000’s of hours of practical experience have gone into designing the lessons and each one is full of practical information, such as what equipment you’ll need and how to set up your spaces. They all include learning objectives and ‘Can I?’ assessment points.

They show you what transferable skill to work on in the lesson, the order of the teaching points to help you deliver that skill and give you simple, sensible progressions, written in non sports jargon. They are also supported by lots of video and worksheet resources, all available online and ‘clickable’ from within the lesson plan.

The curriculum is just part of the SPIRALPE platform, but it’s the starting point that engages teachers and pupils and empowers everyone to enjoy the experience. The platform also helps schools to manage assessments, activity clubs and school fixtureand collects data to prove the positive impact of PE and school sport on the whole school community.
